Rivers United FC's history
The team was founded in 2016 after the River State government received permission to merge the Dolphins and Sharks Football Clubs. The merging occurred following the difficulties they had in finances off the pitch. As a result, The Pride of Rivers' crest consists of both a shark and a dolphin.
